Online tools
The Allen Coral Atlas is a global coral reef mapping and monitoring tool, combining satellite imagery, remote sensing, machine learning, and field verification to produce high‑resolution maps and other products aimed at helping with coral reef conservation, management, and research.
MERMAID (Marine Ecological Research Management Aid) is a specialized open‑source online platform designed to help with collecting, managing, visualizing, sharing, and analyzing data related to coral reefs
Reef Life Survey (a non‑profit citizen‑science program) has recently launched Reef Life Explorer, an interactive web platform which allows users to explore and visualize data on reef health and biodiversity from sites around the world.
Open-source databases
The Coral Trait Database is a curated trait database including coral life history, phylogenetic and biogeographic information. There are currently 5112 species listed in the database, and it is growing!
The Coral Restoration Database hosted by the International Coral Reef Initiative (ICR) is an open repository of information about global coral restoration efforts. It synthesizes case studies, methods, outcomes, and practitioner data to provide a knowledge base for scientists, practitioners, managers, and policy‑makers interested in restoring coral reefs.
