Pre-exposure to a variable temperature treatment improves the response of Acropora cervicornis to acute thermal stress

Presenter: Allyson DeMerlis

Session: 13E - How can interventions and restoration help coral reefs survive the next few decades?

Location: Saal Lloyd

Format: Talk

Rising ocean temperatures continues to be the greatest threat to the world’s coral reefs. As such, it is important to add to our toolbox of interventions to give reef-building corals the best chance at survival. My presentation discusses one possible intervention, stress-hardening, as a method to enhance coral thermal stress tolerance.
